Advice Needed on BTB

Hello again everyone,

I am on a monophasic pill and I take it back to back (4 packs of active pills until I take the placebos). I am currently in my first pack of active pills. Since I finished my last period, I am bleeding sometimes every day, or AT LEAST every other day. It's always a small amount of blood, so it's nothing too concerning. However, it is throwing a kink in my sex life by making sex unpleasantly messy! :) I am considering a couple of different options and would like it if anyone had some advice or feedback.

I am considering just taking the first pack of active pack and then also taking the placebos in this pack in order to make myself have a period. I'm thinking maybe this will help solve the break through bleeding problem if I force myself to have a period. Then, I would continue taking my pills as a I always do (4 packs of active pills, then the placebos). If I do choose this option, would I need to use a backup method since this is not the way I usually take my pills? I can't imagine that I would have to, but I just thought I would ask.

Or,

I am also considering just continuing on with my pills as I always do and hope that the bleeding stops. I have had this happen before and as I recall, I don't think the bleeding ever stopped until I reached my period, so this is part of the reason I am considering the first option.

Let me know that you think. I realize that everyone's body reacts differently and that what worked for one person may not work for me. I'm just looking for some advice. Thanks!

Sounds like what is going on with me. What birth control pill are you on? I'm on MonoNessa (generic for OrthoCyclen/Lo). I too have tried since I began this past August to take 12wks of actives then stop for period. I somehow made it to about the 8th week when I first started then had btb which lasted for another four weeks. My gyn said the first 12weeks if I had btb just to keep taking the actives... then the next time around if it happens stop for a few days for period. Anyway... the next time around or so I had btb on week 4 of actives! grr so I stopped for period. I've had nothing but trouble really and wonder if it can really be done... this skipping 12weeks free of probs.

I have a call into my gyn for her to consider switching pills for me.

Anway, you are not alone. I'd say go ahead and have period... as for me the btb just continues and continues.
