withdrawal-pill question

Hello,

I’m new to this board and need some advice. I’m getting married this December (can’t wait--YAY!!!) My fiancé and I quit using condoms around the time we got engaged in January, but we’ve been using the pull-out method, and I’ve been on the pill since high school (for cramps/heavy periods)--I’m now 23 and currently take Ortho-Tricyclin (sp?).

In the last couple of weeks (i.e. since my last period) we’ve gotten slack about him withdrawing. A few times since January we’ve gotten carried away as well, but for the last couple of weeks or so we’ve been regularly continuing to have intercourse until he climaxes inside my vagina. (I’ve just gotten tired of denying him this and tired of getting frustrated myself.) We’ve made love this way maybe a dozen times during this cycle and maybe a half-dozen times before then altogether.

I’ve never used the pill for birth control before and while he and I both love having intercourse this way, I do get nervous afterward. I will stress that we’re planning to try to make a baby fairly soon after we’re married, or possibly even a couple of months before (ideally get pregnant September 2007 or 2008 so I can teach the whole school year) so an oops wouldn’t be a huge deal right now, except that I'd rather not walk down the aisle while I’m showing.

I’m due this coming Wednesday (April 11) and I have to confess that I’m a little on edge. Can somebody give me some idea about the amount of risk involved in what we’re doing and whether we should stop?

On a side note, he does come much faster when he isn’t wearing condoms, and on occasion I haven’t had time to climax myself. Any suggestions on slowing him down?

Thank you!

Tammy

I don't know numbers, but from my own personal experience, the only time we've ever used the pull out method was before I got on birthcontrol. I've been on b/c probably a total of 4 years, and we never pull out, and I've not gotten pregnant. The only time I've gotten pregnant was when I went off the b/c when we were trying to get pregnant. So in my experience it's pretty safe! ;-)

Hi,

Thank you for your advice . . . the statistics make me feel better . . . it’s just that for years I’ve been trying to make sure that no semen gets in me, and now all of a sudden we’ve decided that it’s OK . . . it’s just going to take some getting used to. At least it doesn’t worry me while we’re actually having sex—but I do get the jitters while we’re cuddling afterward, which kind of spoils things for us both (DF is being very patient, but my nerves aren’t fun for him . . .) . Do others have this sort of reaction? After all, I can see the condom or when he waits til he’s pulled out, but I can’t see my pills working . . . does that make sense?

As for slowing him down, thank you for that information as well . . . since this is the birth control board tell me if this is off-topic. It’s pretty easy for me to have an orgasm before he enters me, but I prefer to have it during intercourse . . . only I need a good bit more than 4-5 minutes, lol! I’ve never timed it but I’d guess 10 minutes, and he’s not giving me that long . . . I do try to keep from squeezing him or moving my hips, but I find I need to do some of that to get there myself . . . and unfortunately, neither of us drinks, so I can’t get him drunk, lol! But I appreciate your suggestions and would be interested in any others. Maybe he’ll get used to sex without condoms eventually and be able to slow down some? (I could recite something like baseball stats or football scores, but he’s so into sports that I think that instead of taking his mind off of me they would just push him over the edge that much faster, lol!)

Thanks again!
