question on stopping the pill?
| Fri, 04-06-2007 - 3:44pm |
Hi, i had a question on the effects from stopping the pill. i'm 32 years old and have been on the pill form 10 years now up until last week. i stopped taking the pills mid-pack (which i'm not sure i shoudl have done) but anyway, i had a "pill period" 2 days after stopping the pill and had that for 3 days. I am also experiencing some unusual breast pain, in both breasts but more in the left then the right. is this normal w/ stopping the pill? i thought perhaps it's just my body going thru some changes by taking myself off the hormones. any advice? thanks in advance.

Be prepared for all kinds of wacky things. When you stop the pill, your body has to figure out what to do again, and after 10 years, there's a lot of remembering that it needs to do. I stopped for two months after being on for 9 years, and I had pretty low estrogen even though I was ovulating. I had vaginal dryenss, sore nipples, irritated ovaries (crampy), little tiny pimples....not stuff I normally have.
With that length of time on birth control, my doctor advised me to give it about six months before re-evaluating "normal." I couldn't take it and went back on. ;) Hopefully next time I have more patience!
Good luck, it might try your patience, but you have to do it sometime.
