Ok, I posted before with some questions about the Mirena IUD--and sorry to do this again, but I have yet another one. I got mine inserted on the 27th of March. I just gave birth to a baby on Feb 1, 2007 and and exclusively breastfeeding. Just 2 days after I got the IUD inserted I started spotting but it has just became heavier. Almost like a period but its been here for just over a week. Could it be possible to have my period even though I'm breastfeeding?? Or is this spotting..just very heavy?? Also, I have just been wearing pads, can I wear tampons? or not yet?? I Just hate this feeling...you know what I mean?!?!? I don't have any cramping just constant bleeding. I would rather ask on here and get some advise before calling my dr's office freaking out.
Thanks for you help ladies...you rock!! :)

It's normal. It could be a period or just heavy spotting. I had the same thing after mine was inserted, I'm still not sure which it was.
I didn't use tampons until after I had it checked at the one month mark. You should call your OB to check to see if that's ok or not since I don't have a real answer for you. Maybe someone will know.
I wouldn't be worried about it though. Spotting, even some heavy, is normal for up to 3 months or so with a new IUD. Mine stopped about the 6 week mark.

Hi Cassie,
I got a depo shot at my six week post-partum visit. About a week later, I bled for a week. I also bf. I don't know if it was the shot or the sixth week bleed (which doesn't always happen at exactly six weeks: http://parenting.ivillage.com/newborn/nmomcare/0,,3x75,00.html
Either way, I didn't bleed after that at all on depo. My son will be one year old next week.
Congrats on the baby!
