over 35 and birth control

OK....

I am going to be 37 at the end of May and I have been on the Depo shot (which I love dearly) for 2 years. I had heard that you can't be on the shot for longer than 2 years because of concern of bone loss, etc. OH, I guess another important part of this is that I smoke.

Anyway, so I decided that instead of not having any birth control that I would quit smoking so I could go back onto the pill. I'm 5 days into not smoking..yeah me!

Well, low and behold, I heard that they don't like to prescribe the pill for women over 35!!! What?! So, what the heck are you supposed to do?

Any advice, etc would be so helpful....

I guess it would also be helpful to know, that I am married, we don't have children yet, but we are planning to start TTC next year sometime.

TIA
