If its not a "period", what is it?!

Alright, so the monthly bleeding that occurs on hormonal BC, what is it? I understand its not a period, as there is no egg being produced to shed, and that the bleeding only occurs because the makers of the pill thought women would want to have a "normal" cycle. However, why then do I still get cramps and bit moody right around PMS time? I definitely still feel some "PMS" symptoms...like usually the last week I have a bit more anxiety and get chocolate cravings. But why, if I'm not really having a menstrual cycle? I've asked this many times before but am still confused. If its not my "period", WHAT IS IT?

The "period" is just withdrawl bleeding from lack of hormones. I would assume that any PMS symptoms you still have are due to the same thing.

it's still lining from your uterus. It's just that since you aren't ovulating there's no egg but the lining still thickens some each month.
