switch from OTC to Ortho-Cyclen?

Hi all,
Well I have a problem - I'm currently on Ortho Tri-Cyclen (have been for about a year now) and for the past few months my cycle has been really messed up. I get my period early, late or have BTB. I'm thinking about switching to just regular Ortho-Cyclen, because I'm assuming its a higher level of hormones and could help.

Is my logic totally skewed here? Does any one have any suggestion as to a good BC pill? I really want to stay on the pill, I don't think I'd be comfortable with the ring, Norplant, etc.
THanks,
M

I think switching to another pill would probably be a good idea, but as to which might be the best to switch to, that's anybody's guess. You could try Ortho Cyclen because it's got a little more progestin, but I think I might shoot a little higher than that. Ortho Tri Cyclen and Ortho Cyclen have pretty much the lowest progestin activity (think progestin potency) of the combination pills on the market due to the strength of their progestin and the estrogen content. Anything else you try, in theory, should be an improvement because higher progestin or lower estrogen tends to reduce bleeding.

I would probably give your doc a call and see if you can get your prescription changed for your next pack. Maybe your doctor will want an appointment, or maybe s/he will just call the pharmacy, I've heard of it being done both ways.

Good luck! I hope the next pill works out well!
