When do you get Period Post BCP?

If I am taking birth control pills and want to stop, when will I get my period?

I plan to take BCP, and instead of taking the "placebo" pills continue on with a new pack to make sure I don't have a period while my husband is home on leave for two weeks.

I don't need the pill for birth control because ... well... obviously while hubby is away I'm not having sex.

He's only home for two weeks and I don't want to have to "sit on the sidelines" so to speak while he is here.

As of now he will be home right when I'm due to start.

Can somebody enlighten me? I got my prescription today, and discussed it with my doc and she said this is really common to do this.

How long after I take my last Real pill should I expect my period? I will only be taking them for about 4 weeks.

It could happen right away when you stop taking them. It could take a few weeks. When I went off the pill I didn't get my first period for about 6 weeks.

So I should start taking them now? Is there anything to suggest I won't return to normal fertility after discontinuing the pill?

We want to have another child, but I don't want continuous birth control to effect this. Although it does make more sense... (what you said) than me just taking them for 4 weeks. Ugh, this is complicated.

My husband leaves afghanistan on the 24th of August. It should take a weeks travel time for him to get here. He "should" be here on the 1st ish of September. I am due to start on the 1st of Sept. I would like to have my AF during the week he travels... I know it says somewhere how to accomplish this, but can you explain it to me like you would a child? LOL I seem to have trouble grasping the concept.

I am taking Levlen... a 21 hormone pill, 7 day placebo. the hormone have same amount each week.

Ok, so my next question... Do I have to start my pills during the first week of my cycle? My cycles have been whacky, and I didn't ovulate until CD 19 this month, so I'm not sure what my luteal phase is going to be. (time between ovulation and the show of AF.) If I could either hold off, or start them early, I think that time line would work for me. And it would give me time to adjust accordingly. I used to have the perfect 28 day cycle and then a recent miscarriage changed that so on top of getting figured out on new birth control, I'm also trying to figure out my cycles.

I have been an avid charter for over 4 years now. I have calendars out the wazoo... and believe me I am counting weeks, days, hours, minutes til my hubby comes home!

I so appreciate your help. I have always been on top of my cycles but the Pill is very new to me.
