Hello. I stumbled across this board because I am soon to be married and will be needing my birth control for the first time. I have been taking Kariva, a generic 28 day pill. I read your suggestions on taking the pill correctly because I have a tough time taking it exactly on time everyday, even though I am working very hard to do so. I have a very irregular daily schedule, so sometimes I can't take it right on time unfortunately.
Anyway, my question is, I saw that there was a difference between the time period in which you can take either a combined oral contraceptive or a progestin-only pill to be 'on-time'. I plan on asking my pharmacist, but can someone tell me the difference so I can figure out whether I have a half hour window or a 4 hour window? The listing on the front says desogestrel/ethinyl estradiol and ethinyl estradiol tablets so if anyone can help me out before I have a chance to make it to my pharmacist, I would really appreciate it!

Hi goldnblack, welcome!
