allergic to oral contraceptives?

Is anyone on this board allergic to oral contraceptives? I began itching very badly a few days after taking my first few pills and determined that I was having an allergic reaction and needed to stop.

Also, is it possible to be allergic to one oral contraceptive brand and not another, possibly because of the different progestins in each brand (i.e. Yasmin contains the progestin drospirenone, whereas Ortho Tri Cyclen contains the progestin norgestimate)?
Do all progestins and estrogens have relatively the same effect on the body's immune response?

I know I should talk to my doctor about this, but I won't be able to see her for weeks, and I'm getting restless. Thanks so much for your help :).

Thanks so much for your informative response! I guess I'll have to try some alternatives before I give up on OCs altogether. Take care :).

When I was taking Loestrin 1.5/30 I had really dry and itchy skin and at times contact dermatitis from fragrances.
