Missed period with copper IUD?

Is it normal not to have a period with the copper IUD? I've had mine in for a few months now and have been getting my period. Well, now my last period was on April 1st and there is still no sign of my next AF. I've been kinda crampy at times and keep checking but.. nothing! Is there anything besides pregnancy that can make you miss a period? I took a pregnancy test on Friday but it was negative. It is now day 38 and as far as I remember.. i've never had this late of a period!

BTW no stress, weight loss/gain, new medication.. nothing.

I would be a little suspect about this. The Mirena can cause a woman's period to eventually stop - but not the Paragard (copper) IUD. In fact the Paragard is actually known to make a woman's period heavier.

I'd call your doctor's office and see what they suggest you do.

I suppose you could occasionally miss a period on an IUD just as you could without birth control and still not be pregnant. By now, a pregnancy test should be accurate.

Can you still feel your strings?

Please let us know what you find out.

Have your recently come off the Pill? I had a Paragard inserted about a month and half after stopping the Pill in Feb. I've had one "real" period. I'm now on day 45 of my cycle and no period in sight. I don't have any pregnancy symptoms and I've had 3 negative HPTs. If I get too much past 60 days I'm calling the doctor.

Good question. I didn't think to ask that!
