Hello! I'm Jodi! I was hoping someone can help or give me some advice to calm me down some. I've been on Ortho-tri-Cyclin Lo for 2 years & have always dealt with spotting on/off between cycles. My period was due 5/11 and it hasn't come yet. This has never happened before. Last week, for about a 3 day span, I experienced what seemed to be a mini period. It was medium flow, red blood, and heavy enough where I had to wear a pad 24/7. Since 5/11, when my period should have came, I've been having cramps/dark brown discharge, which is usually what happens right before a normal period anyway. I know this is TMI, but I wanted to add that my husband does not cum inside me. I took a First Response test yesterday and it was negative. I'm not noticing any other symptoms. What could be going on??? My anxiety level is through the roof.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Jodi, welcome!

Thank you so much for replying!!! Let me answer some questions. I always take my pill between 8:30-9:30pm, and I'm never late. I'm very good about that. I did just quit my job about 2-3 weeks ago, so I'm wondering if the stress (which was very high) could have been a trigger. I meant to mention the job thing in my original post, I forgot. You asked if I stopped any meds, I was a big Midol taker (I took them for headaches) and I stopped taking them 5/1 cold turkey...not sure if that means anything. And one more thing...I wish I knew which pill this was, and I should have just opened a new pack and took the pill from there, but one of my pills looked a little disformed, and I still took it. I wouldn't think that would play a part in all of this, but I wanted to get that out there too. I really want to thank you for your help!
ETA: I just checked out an ovulation calculator...and I know for a fact my husband & I didn't do the deed during that time because I was sick. So that lowers my chances even more.

The pill is designed to prevent ovulation, so checking out an ovulation calculator won't help you at all. If your pill doesn't prevent ovulation, this means that the pill doesn't contain enough hormones for your body. This can be the case in overweight women, for instance, where the excess fat in their bodies will absorb some of the pill hormone, making it less effective. Other things like high metabolism can also have some effect.
