SEX after IUD insertion

JUst wanted to ask:
How long do you have to wait for sex after IUD insertion? I read that no objects should be inserted for 1 week because of PID.
I hope not, b/c I am planning my anniversary get -a- way the next day after my insertion.
Thanks for your help.

only your doctor can really tell you. I've found a lot of women have varying comments on this.
My doctor told me I could go home and have sex the same day if I really wanted to. I've heard others said no sex for up to a month.
Honestly most women spot pretty heavy and feel like crap for a day or two though. I would reschedule the getaway or the IUD insertion.
Some women go back to work and feel fine the same day and I know others said they could barely walk the cramps were so bad. It's impossible to know for sure.
Hi
Jill
My doctor didn't say a thing about when I could or couldn't have sex - so I just took that to mean I could have sex as usual.
HOWEVER - after my insertion I felt crampy and gross in that area, and there was no way I would let my husband near my vagina

I had my Mirena inserted at 3:30 p.m. and had sex at about 10 p.m. the same day, no problem and no pain. I was a little scared that it might hurt or that dh would feel the strings but it was great! I did not start spotting until more than one week post insertion and it is very light now at 2.5 weeks post insertion. I just need a panty liner to stop the staining in my underwear, but it would not soak through to my pants. Hope that isn’t tmi for you:)
Good luck,
Holly
