NuvaRing problem

I've read a couple articles on here about NuvaRing and first I just want to say it has been a really convenient BC method for me. I haven't been on any other type of BC before and I chose the ring because I'm a very busy and forgetful person and didn't want to worry about taking a pill the same time every day. I also didn't want to worry about the possibility of hormones going through my stomach making me nauseous. The period thing hasn't been a problem for me. I freaked out the first time but now I get my period exactly 3 days after taking the ring out.
However, I've been having a couple problems:
1) Before I was on BC, my husband and I had a really awesome and wild sex life. But since I've been using nuvaring, my sexual appetite has really decreased to the point where we only have sex about once or twice a week, if that. Even if I want to do it, I have a really hard time getting wet and then it hurts to try. But I hardly feel like doing anything until I take it out every 3 weeks, then my interest just skyrockets. I've read about oral contraceptives causing that problem, but I didn't know the same thing would happen with the nuvaring. A friend of mine who was using the NuvaRing was having the same problem too. Has anyone else here experienced this??
2) I kept getting yeast infections when I first started using it. That problem has pretty much decreased now but sometimes it comes again and is so annoying! My friend who was using the ring had to stop using it because it was actually causing pieces of her uterus to break off. Don't know how, and thankfully that hasn't happened to me but that's still a lot of cause for concern.
I have 2 refills left before my next pap and I think I'll change BC then. Any suggestions for good oral contraceptives without the bad side effects?
Also, my husband and I are planning a vacation soon, and turns out its around the week that I'm supposed to get my period. Is it safe to leave the ring in for 4 weeks? Or should I just go ahead and take it out and have my period during our vacation?
Thanks,

Hi ruthieb85, welcome!

I believe Implanon is a levonorgestrel device....
Anyhoo, I've had dryness with some birth control pills (oddly enough, those with higher estrogen, because they use stronger progestins in larger doses), but not with Nuvaring.
