Yay!

Does anyone know how long it takes for a pill like that to go generic? I only pay $10 for a pack of Jolessa (generic Seasonale).

This is great news, but i have a question.

I have osteoporosis because i had long-term amenorrhea (lack of a period). i had Norplant for 5 years and Depo Provera for 8 years and my period was gone for most of that time.

BTW, i LOVED it.

BUT, that long a period of cessation of menses caused my bones to thin since my body simulated peri-menopause. no biggie, i'm on calcium and back on the pill so that i have regular periods.

i would much rather go back to not having my period without the further loss of bone.

none of the press releases for this drug address the fact that users can have bone loss. the focus is on the heart and stroke effects which, from what i understand, are FAR more rare than the bone loss issue.

Has anyone heard anything yet about the bone effects from this drug?

I'd like to know this, too. Although, if it DID lead to bone loss, I would probably still take it. My life is a living hell while not on the pill. I supplement with calcium and I lift weights plus other weight bearing exercises 6x per week. I am also trying to stay on the thin side (5'6", 125lbs). But that's getting harder with age....lol. I don't smoke and have cut way back on my drinking. Hopefully all this will help with any bone loss issues.

i know what you mean. i still took the depo for 2 years after my latest bone density test because i sooooo liked the amenorrhea.

it still would be nice to know they tried to minimize the effects. i know that some drug companies have been testing that idea in their next gen BCs.

I've been on depo for about 9 months. This is the 3rd time i've been on it. each time lasting about a year. I'm thinking of switching because that whole bone loss thing kind of scares me. I've been trying to wake up early enough(i work nights) to go get a gym membership but i sleep during the day.

The only side effect i've gotten from this drug is my sex drive going down a bit which is a little frustrating when your mentally in the mood but your body won't cooperate, even with plenty of foreplay. I tried the patch before which gave me my period for 6 straight weeks and i'm thinking maybe a pill.

But other than that stuff, i love, love, love my depo!
