I've never experienced anything as painful as you describe. I used to have pretty bad periods but again, not as bad as yours sound. A normal period for me is heavy for about 5-8 days.

I've been on depo provera (shot every 3 months) for 9 months. This is my 3rd time being on it. The first two times i started it i had gone to planned parenthood and they had waited until my period started to give me my shot. Those two times i had never seen my period again until i quit getting the shot.

but when i went 9 months ago to just the regular clinic, they started me on it 2 weeks before my period were to start. Not even a day later my period started and lasted almost the 2 whole weeks. I haven't had a period since then, though. But i depo works differently on different people. I knew a girl in highschool that got the depo shot and had her period for 3 straight months.

I have had one side effect. It has changed my sex drive a little bit. I have had a little dip in my sex life. But its purely a physical change and not mental. Mentally i'm like "i want sex" but my body doesn't always agree. and i'm 23 yrs old so that shouldn't happen.

uh oh... these postings make me really nervous now!! i'm getting married in august, and basically with the regular pill i'm on (ortho tri cyclen lo), i would have gotten my period 3 days before my wedding, and i wasn't too keen on the idea. so when i asked my gyno, he said to go ahead and refill one more time with that prescription, but then i could try seasonique because then i wouldn't get my period until september. well now hearing all this about horrible cramping and breakthru bleeding your first cycle through, this makes me nervous that i could have enough breakthru bleeding to be like a real period,a nd have it for my wedding and honeymoon anyway!!! which negates the whole initial point of starting this new pill! i'm sposed to start seasonique at the end of this month's pack, so in about 3 weeks. but now i'm nervous. me and the fiance have never, err, "been with each other" and i don't want our first time to be messed up because of a period!!!
