As soon as it's generic, I'll be on it. I'm on generic Seasonale right now. I'm trying to take it non-stop. So far my longest cycle has been 17 weeks :) Lybrel has less of both medicines than what I am taking so I guess it would be safer.
I have been having 4 periods a year since I started bc in 2004! I was using normal contraceptive pill (not seasonale or anything) and the only time I had a problem was when I tried to skip too many periods and had a break through bleed.
Hey everyone! I have a concern about this pill, and maybe you ladies can help clear this up. My concern is if you are on this pill that eliminates periods, what kind of risk is there once you want to have children. I'm on bc now because my dh and i don't want children right now, but in the future we will. Not having a period would be great! I have always hated that one week of the month. But what if I went on this pill, and then that time came when we decided to have kids, would there be a risk? Do you ladies know if anything has been said about this concern???
I just started taking Lybrel last week. Walmart finally got it in at the pharmacy. My insurance only pays for one pack a month, so out of pocket I'm paying $20 a month for my bc now. It's more than I want to pay, but I'm willing to try it.
Please read the directions, though, on when to begin taking Lybrel. My doctor had told me to cycle through an entire period and then begin taking Lybrel on Sunday. DON'T DO THIS. Luckily, I read the literature. You are to begin taking Lybrel during the first 24 hours of your period. If you are currently on a bc and want to switch, again, once you complete that packet of pills, during the first 24 hours of your withdrawal period, begin taking Lybrel.
I believe to have children, work with your physician, but I think it's just as any other bc. When you stop taking the pill, you can get pregnant.
The packet Lybrel comes in is very handy and easier to use than my old bc. It's a click packet and is a small, plastic container.
I had been taking Seasonale, but I developed extra breast tissue under my left arm and a lump was discovered. I went in for an MRI and mammogram and all was well. I then stopped taking Seasonale. I went back onto my old bc, which was a traditional pill with one week of placebo pills. I did attempt to take my bc nonstop, but this did not work very well. After three months, I started having break-through bleeding everyday! That was no good. So, that's when I went onto Lybrel. If anyone is interested, I can post updates on how things are going.
