Okay:
I started Birthcontrol (Ortho TriCyclin Lo) in March 2007. I finished the first pack and got my period right on time. The next month i started taking the pills all the way up to the week before i was due to get my period and i realized that i was going to get my period on a holiday weekend so i decided to skip the placebos and go straight into a new pack. I experienced some spotting from during the time i was trying to skip my period but that was all. I continued taking the pack after skipping the period but i made a few mistakes and forgot to take some of the pills and dint take them all on time. So 2 weeks ago i started the placebos that should have resulted in a period. Problem was that no period came. I never got a period after finishing that pack. Now it has been 2 weeks and i still have not gotten a period and i am starting to worry if i am pregnant. PLEASE tell me if it is normal to skip another period after the one i purposely skipped. I am worried i might be pregnant now.
please respond.

Hi stephers1026, welcome!
Jill
I have been afraid to start taking my birthcontrol again because i am worried if i am pregnant it will harm the baby.
I used to take birthcontrol (the same brand) a couple of years ago and i NEVER missed a period. Not even one out of the 1.5 years i was taking it.
I mean i was suppsoed to get my period after starting the placebos right? i mean i spotted when i started the new pack after skipping the other placebos so would that delay my period or can i technicaly say i am "late" because i didnt get my period when the pack ended?

Hi,
Since it seems like this is really an exception for you then I would suggest just taking a pregnancy test. You'll feel much better once you know for sure.

Well i still have not tested but i can add nausea to my list of symptoms...
i promise i will test soon.
Hey,
I hope everything is working out for the best.
If you continue to take Ortho TriCyclin Lo and feel the need to skip your period, you might want to look into trying Ortho Cyclin, and skip the Tri part. I'm not a healthcare pro but I learned that the tri-levels of hormones make it harder to skip without spotting. I used Ortho Cyclin to skip mine and it worked very well because the doses are the same week to week. Not everyone is the same, just a suggestion.
Good luck!
I was able to manipulate my period much like the newer Seasonal types of birth control. I would go 4 packs in a row (or 12 weeks) of pills and then stop for one week. During that one week I would get my period and then I'd start back again with a new pack. It worked really well. My biology professor in college was actually the one who taught me this method. She was the one who suggested I switch from Ortho Tri Cyclin to Ortho Cyclin because of the varying hormone levels.
But I should mention that my best friend tried the same thing, with Ortho Cyclin, and it didn't work for her. She actually ended up spotting for an entire month before things got back to normal. So I guess it just depends on your body.
hope all goes well!
