Alesse?

Since I've been looking into switching birth control, I was asking a friend of mine what she uses. She said it's something called Alesse, and supposedly it's the lowest dose BC in pill form. Does anybody have info on what hormones the pill uses? And if there are any Alesse users out there, have you had any bad side effects from it?

Hi ruthieb85, welcome back!

Also, I believe Alesse is still Temporarily Out of Stock from Wyeth, though generic versions are available.
I loved Alesse when I was on it (4ish years) ... although the generic (Aviane) didn't agree with me, I had no side effects to speak of when on Alesse. I only switched because of a drug interaction which caused me to I need something with a little bit higher estrogen/progestin ratio.
That being said, for some women it's not about how "low-dose" a Pill is, but how the particular combination and ratio of hormones acts in her body.
Hope that helps!!
