After BCP do you see AF or O first?

I am so sorry I am so full of questions! I know that a body bleeds after BCP, but is it a true period? And I know that it doesn't necessarily mean that O will follow nicely along where she is supposed to.

If I were to start my BCP's on Sunday(this coming) And use them for moving my period, and then if it works, use them to maintain a 28 day cycle, would I possibly O then after stopping them?

Doc says they "should" not effect my fertility, as they are low dose and therefore out of my system the first day I miss a pill.

Was there a question in there? LOL. So if I can move my cycle so that DH is home at a good time, is it possible that I could Ovulate while he's here? Cause that would ice my cake!

Well, as I understand it, the bleeding one usually has on the pill is not a "true" period, in the sense that it is not caused by the same mechanisms as a period in a woman not on hormonal bc. The bleeding is shedding of lining caused by a rapid drop in hormones. The reason you are still protected from pregnancy during inactive pill is because enough residual hormones remain in your system to prevent ovulation. If you continue to take the pill, with at most 7 24 hour days between active pills, you will most likely not ovulate. That's how the pill is designed. If you stop taking them, ovulation will return, but how quickly depends on the women. Some ovulate right out of the gate, and some women take a few months to get back on track.

"So if I can move my cycle so that DH is home at a good time, is it possible that I could Ovulate while he's here? Cause that would ice my cake!"

I'm not quite sure I "get you". Are you trying to move your period, and want to make sure you are protected and will not ovulate when your hubby is home? Or, are you trying to move your period and time ovulation so you can get pregnant while he's home.

LOL. some days I don't "get" myself.

Ideally, I would have AF the week that DH travels and Ovulate while he is home. We would like a child.

Not so ideally, I just don't want to have my period while he is here.

I would like to move my period, be able to discontinue BCP and ovulate in a timely manner.

It seems forever endless... all the trouble.

I know this is confusing. We have been trying for a long time for a baby. I had a miscarriage in February, and then I was given BCP to protect myself from a pregnancy right after, but didn't need them as DH left about 2 weeks after my M/C

He will be home the first week of September, and we would like to try again. I have asked the doc, and I now have a Rx for BCP and Provera.. I can move my period with Provera, but there is no guarantee I will see her right away when I need to. Same as with BCP No guarantee.

I'm trying to weigh my options and so far they aren't giving me hope.

Well, your doctor is better qualified to give you advice than a layperson like me. But, since there is no guarantee that you will ovulate right off the bat, I'd say using birth control to both move your period and to time ovulation wouldn't be that efficient. I'd contact your doctor again to get the details on the best strategy for your current schedule.

I just went off the pill for medical reasons. I got my period 2 days after I went off and I just ovulated this week. I am NOT trying to get pregnant though as we are done having kids so I told my dh he needs to stay away from me this week-lol!!
