I have been on Yaz for three weeks and I am so nauseated I can't stand it. I switched to taking them in the evenings but then I am waking up sick all night, help? My Midwife says they are the lowest dose ones out there, I will try another brand but am I just someone who cannot tolerate the pill?

My sister gets sick from BCP, too. She is now on Nuvaring and absolutely loves it. She says she feels no side effects. Also, she's taking it continuously with no period breaks.

I was on Lo Overal for three years and then my hospital decided to switch to the generic version called Low Ogestrel. The new pills made me feel the same symptoms you are feeling. It seems like right after I took it in the morning, I was sick until I went to bed. The pharmacy recommended that I take them at night to sleep through it but I thought that was ridiculous, so I decided to go a whole different route. I am not on the Nuva Ring. It is a small plastic ring (almost like a small rubber bracelet) that you insert in your vagina up by your cervix. You leave it in for three weeks, take it out for one, and do it all over again. I just started it a week ago and haven't been able to feel a thing, and neither has my fiance! It is not proven as much, if not more, than the pill as far as success rates.

If you want to stay on the pill, I would recommend Lo Overal, and yes it does have low doeses of hormones. But if you are willing to try something different- get on the ring! The great thing about it is that it is not like a pill going through your system- everything stays right there at the source. This leaves you feeling less responsive to the low does of hormones, because it is not traveling through your system like a pill does.
