Well, this is my frist time on birth control. I'm in my second week, and I'm taking it for it to help with my very painful cramps that I get. I'm taking Alesse, and my doctor told me there is a possibility of breakthrough bleeding, and I was predpared for that. What I was not prepared for was how much. It started on Tuesday, it is now Saturday. I still have another week to go and then a week on the "green" pills. The bleeding started off spotty, but now its just really heavy and I have TERRIBLE cramps. So basically my question is, would it be bad to just stop taking them now? Should I finish the month and then stop? Because it is really frustrating that I'm taking this for taking away my cramps, meanwhile they've come even worse, my period or whatever is happening to me now is annoying, and I'm due to get another period in a week? I can't handle it. Should I just stop taking them? Sorry if I'm very repetitive I'm just frustrated...Thanks!!!!!!

It takes your body 3 months to adjust to taking a new hormonal pill. Stopping in the middle of the pack may make your symptoms worse because you dive of the hormones. Try and stick it out the 3 months to find out if your body can really handle it or not because if you switch pills there will be ANOTHER 3 month adjustment period.

Thanks for the input..and I understand what you're both saying. My thing is that, if I'm not taking it for the purposes of birth control..but for cramps, and while I'm on it and the cramps are like 10 times worse and it's also heavy, and then I'm due to have another period in a week? It kind of defeats the whole purpose of me taking it. I was just wondering if it's dangerous to stop taking them whenever. I'll probably be calling my doctor sometime this week, but getting input from people who may be going through similar problems helps alot!
