Anyone here with Factor V?

Hi again everyone... I've been on here a few times before for help with my Mirena IUD. Before I start with questions, let me back up...

I'm 20 years old, never had children, and have Factor V and prothrombin gene mutation (I can't add estrogen to my body basically.) I was on this site a lot before because of my pretty severe pain with my IUD. A month later, the pain is still bad, only really managed with 8-12 ibuprofen a day. My gyn wants to remove the IUD next week because my uteran cavity is just too small, which I agree with this decision. However, he wants me to start the Camile mini-pill. This apparently only contains progestin, but I'm still worried I'll develop a blood clot.

So my question is... Is there anyone here that has this same problem? I know it's rare but I'm hoping I might get lucky. And everyone else, feel free to add anything you'd like... I'm up for suggestions! Thanks!

I'm pretty sure Maegan does and has Mirena. Maybe she'll see this.

Mel is correct :) I have Factor V.

I'm using the Mirena IUD and love it. I have not had childrend either, but it has not caused me any problems. I must have a larger uterus or something.

I considered a progesterin only birth control pill - but the pregnancy rate is a lot (a lot!) higher and I didn't want to risk it. And I wanted to wait a good five years before having kids, so Mirena was a good option for me.

Oh good I'm glad it was you. I KNEW someone had mentioned it before in relation to the Mirena.

Well I think I've decided to give the Mirena one more try... I just finished my first period with it, and today I only took 3 ibuprofen... haha woo!

I was told to start the mini pill yesterday, but I think I'll call Monday and tell him I'm feeling better (hopefully it continues) and see what he says.

Thanks everyone for the support!!
