i am on the the pill right now and i was wondering how long do you have to wait to ttc after going off the pill? has anyone had problems ttc because of being on the pill for a period of time? how long did it take for your cycle to get back on track after going off the pill? thank you so much for taking time to answer my questions :)

i also posted this on deciding to try.. but i think that was the wrong board.

I was on the pill for 4 years. My doctor told me that technically I could start TTCing right away but that a lot of people prefer to wait 3 cycles. That gives your body time to get back on track.

It took me 2 or 3 cycles to be regular again. I was told the average couple takes between 8 months and a year of TTCing after the pill.

DH and I took a year and a half but my DH has MS and that's a factor.

The pill does not affect your fertility so there really shouldn't be any problems. So I would not freak out if it took your body a couple of cycles to readjust. If you were irregular before BC though you will probably be irregular again and that can make it take longer to conceive.

The standard advice is to wait 3 months after stopping the pill to ttc.
