Well I tried to get off the pill after taking it for 9 years, but PMS has not been good to me and I decided I needed to get back on after all.
My nurse prescribed Loestrin 1/20. My biggest concern was I wanted a pill with low hormones, but enough to obviously do its job (protect me against pregnancy, keep the PMS at bay & regulate me - though I am perfectly regular w/out) I wanted the low hormones because my Mom got breast cancer from Progestrin (sp?) She was taking it straight, granted but still. Plus in the past on higher hormone pills I had horrible depression/mood swings & migranes.
I actually took this pill YEARS ago (or it was the 1.5/30 - I forget), but I don't recall how it "treated" me.
I ask if anyone else is on this because my only concern with low hormones is I'll have BTB so that is the reason for my inqury?
TIA
Jenny

My gyn prescribed this for me because while I was on OrthoCyclen I had been having break through bleeding. She said this pill (generic I got was Microgestin 1/20) will help with the break through bleeding.
ETA:
I'm only on the first week of taking this pill so I really can't say for sure how things are going.

Yeah I got the generic too. When I took this pill before (actually the 1.5/30) it was new to the market so I got the regular stuff. Well tonight they give me the generic for $31.99 (My BC isn't covered by insurance :(
I then asked if I could get the brand name instead. You know what she said? It would cost me $62.99! OMG! That is insane!!
So I too am taking the generic. Starting Sunday. We'll have to compare notes after we hit our 1 month mark.
Thanks
Jenny
Yes, please come back and let me know how you are doing. I'd like to compare notes. So far and not sure if it is bcp related is the whole backs of my legs like the calf area ache/pain. Other than that ok I guess no nausea, etc. I was put on this pill to help with my discharge but so far I still have discharge. I'm interested to see if my period will be lighter too. Take care and please come back!!
Do you do mail order? I got Microgestin 1/20 three packs for $20 total with my ins.
I mail order for my other prescriptions, however BC is not covered by my health insurance plan. I think its a Michigan thing?
Be careful with your legs hurting. BC pills can cause blood clots. Keep and eye on it and if it still hurts on Monday I'd call your doctor and voice your concern.
Like I said I start the pack on Sunday so I'll report back as things progress. I'm not stranger to BC Pills. I've been on the pill for 9+ years! I tried to quit (#1 reason because I am not currently sexually active and it was $$$) but now I'm seeing someone, and my PMS has gotten worse (tender breasts, bloating, etc) so I'm going back on.
Good Luck
Jenny
