no period - several months

I have been on Microgestin Fe 1.5/30 and have been for the past 6 months or so. I had tried other pill but was having a problem with breakthrough bleeding. After a few months on Microgestin, I've just stopped having any period all together. My doctor had basically told me that if I were not upset by this, she found it to be a common side effect of this particular pill. I'm not upset by it at all, but when I mentioned it to a friend the other day she basically implied that because I was not on a pill specifically designed for me to skip my period that I was somehow putting myself at risk...any thoughts? I'm not actually having sex at the moment so I don't have that "oh my god could I be...?" feeling (although a rather intimate session short of sex with my bf certainly sent me into a little moment of questioning). I've always used condoms regardless of whether or not I'm on the pill so as to help as backup and prevent STDs, but...just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience with Microgestin or if I should be concerned about not getting a period at all...

Thanks!

My periods are very flukey on microgestin....my doctor seems unconcerned and always tells me that I am still protected if taking them properly.

You can tell your friend that the pills that are "designed" for you to skip your period are not any different than the regular 28 day pills, they're just packaged in larger packages.
