Anyone heard of this yet? It has recently gotten FDA approval and is growing in popularity. It replaces Norplant for birth control....

Feedback about it would be great!

i know this discussion is a bit old, but i am interested in what people have thought about implanon, and i wanted to share my experience wiht it.

i got mine installed on august 8 while i was on my period, and i haven't had a period since. i'm assuming this is normal. i was on the pill (most recently yasmin and yaz) for 8 years and i was getting too irresponsible with it and it was basically going to be ineffective with the way i was apathetic about it. i do not want to have children but no doctor will sterilize me (I'm 25) so i opted for this b/c it made sense financially and i didnt have to have the annoyance of remembering a pill when my schedule is so up and down.

i got the implant and i coudl feel it under my skin and it was really tender. now, two months later, i can feel it, just not as much (since the muscle has healed over it now) and it doesnt hurt. i have had sex only a few times since i got it, twice without a condom, and so far things are ok. i'm hoping this thing works as well as sterilization, which i plan to get as soon as a doctor will do for me.

interested in other experiences with implanon!
