results from blood test on Monday...CD 34~ between 9-11 days postovulation...
hcg-< 2
progesterone 6.7
all other hormone levels are within normal range, so I am not peri-menopausal, which means, I need to think about a different birth control method than the one that "had" been working until I turned 41!!!
I guess I can finally believe that i am not pregnant...I guess the Plan B really does throw your system off...so now I wait for AF !
Thanks for listening to me obsess and worry....
The support here is amazing!!!

Hi again J, welcome back!
Jill
FYI,
period came Thursday, Day 36...
If I ovulated on June 21, like I thought, then my period came right on time...why I ovulated on cycle day 23???That's a whole other story...
Pondering my BC options at this point...
DH had Vasectomy after the birth of my 4 th( 2000) child in 5 years... had PV pain, had it reversed~ 4 years later (3/ 2005). told us his sperm count was too low to get pregnant...I was pregnant 3 months( 6/2005) after the VR...miscarried at 6 weeks...
so that option is not an option...MD said he would have the pain again if he had the V...
BC pills,,,I don't think so, I'm 41, almost 42..
Diaphram... possibility
Tubes tied??? I'm scared to do that...but I may be persuaded if anyone has any good stories...
what else is there??? Do you have any thoughts???
Thanks for all of your support and help through this...
J
Hi again hon,
Jill
Me too. I take Seasonale on an extended cycle (well, I go as long as possible until I start to spot, usually around week 17). I am very happy with it. When the new 365 day pill comes available to me, I'll switch to that until menopause.
What is your objection to BCP?
I didn't think BCP were ok for women over 40....???
I used to take them when I first got married...ortho novum 777 or something like that...I got bad headaches from them.
I wonder if they are different now...
I have an appointment with a new MD tomorrow...actually a midwife...so I am armed with many questions!!!
How do you like the pills?? ANy side effects?? How long have you been taking them???
~~I had not heard that. I've heard they can be safely taken up until menopause.
~~I used to take that, too. I got menstrual migraines from most BCP so my gyn suggested taking them straight through without breaks for periods. I get very few headaches, now. Maybe 4 per year.
~~Yes, lots to choose from.
I have an appointment with a new MD tomorrow...actually a midwife...so I am armed with many questions!!!
~~They've cured most of my debilitating cycle problems. I have a long list but they are sore, swollen, lumpy and painful breasts most of the cycle, ovulation pain that makes me sick to my stomach, migraines, PMDD, painful bowel and bladder, among other things.
~~No.
~~About a year.
Good luck with your appointment. As long as you don't smoke and aren't overweight, they'll probably rx BCP's for you.
Apricot
Wow, Thanks so much for all of your responses!!!
The thing is my OB that I have had for 13 years ( delievered all 4 of my kids) is fantastic, BUT she's not open minded about these things...she really doesn't want to hear anything from me excpet a tubal...especially after this last issue...
I have tried to talk to her about aother options and she has something to say about them all.
I love her to death, but I don't think we "fit" anymore...she is the BEST for OB, but I'm thinking that she isn't what I need for the GYN department...Plus she's in the city, and about 45 minutes from me.
So, that's why all the confusion about the pills...etc...for me.
I'm talking to this midwife today, then I have another appointment with another GYN MD in AUgust...trying to find one a little closer to me, and one who "fits" my lifestyle now.
Interesting about the "cure" part..
I have terrible O pain/nausea/backache, and pretty bad PMS...I would love to have that taken care of...
What about weight gain and bloating? THat was the worst part, and I beleive the cause for the headaches for me...I just felt really badly all the time...
ANy of that?
I'm interested in hearing what the MW had to say today,..I just thought I had no options excpet TL, which I really, really don't want...so thanks for arming me with some questions for her!!!
Thanks again...
J
Hi again hon,
Jill
Really??
So you do not feel bloaty? No weight gain??
I spoke to the MW yesterday..and I think I'm staying with my gyn MD.. I like the MW alot, but she didn't say anything that my MD wouldn't have said...and I'm used to the MD etc...
ANyway...she thought I should try the Mirena IUD...didn't think the diaprham would be effective -too many kids, cervix/vagina not able to hold it as effectively as it should.
Pills: I asked about Prog only, and she said " no"...I would have to take it every day, at the exact time...which is really not a problem for me...I can handle that. I asked about that one becasue of the bad side effects that I had with Ortho 777 many years ago...she never even mentioned Yaz...hmmmm I guess she just had the Mirena in her head, you know?
However, I really wanted to hear about pill options etc...and she just kept telling me about the IUD...
so...I am keeping my appointment with my Gyn MD in 2 weeks...and I'll talk to her about Yaz...
any other pills that I can ask her about??
Do you get your period every month still or is this the one that you only get it 4 times a year? Is it as effective as the other ones, too?
SO you haven't had any side effects from it right?
SOrry for all the questions...I really want to figure this out...
Thanks.
J
