I got a ring sling and have been trying to get the hang of it.

I donated my freezer stash of EBM to another mom through

Don't start with the cradle position!!!! Try tummy to tummy, nice and tight against you. That's the easiest to get the hang up and what it's recommended to start with. I could never master the cradle position.

ITA! nix the cradle carry and wear the baby upright against your chest really tight.

I attached a picture below of my dh holding dd at 2 days old, in a maya wrap ring sling. it isn't exactly tummy to tummy..she is all curled up in ball. He doesn't have the shoulder on right, so ignore that part LOL...

If you have an overly padded ring sling (like a nojo or OTSBH), you probably won't be able to get it tight enough to do this carry. if you don't want to buy a new sling, you can cut open the padded rail part at the tail end, remove some of the padding so that you can tighten the rings more.

I was a snuggle hold at times with ds as a newborn. He had reflux that was obvious from very early on so we used an upright carry more then the cradle hold as it was easier on his stomach. Here are some links to instructions I did up for a friend and

It may be baby preference. Marah Jade never liked the cradle hold. I would hold her up right against my chest and secure the sling under her that way. She would only cradle when she was nursing.
