Baby Carrier Opinions Wanted

Hi there...

Am mostly a lurker here, but wanted your opinions on a good baby carrier.

I'm looking for a back carrier (preferably, not a sling...), which is comfortable, safe, and also, one which I can put on without the help of anyone. And which will be able to carry my DS when he becomes a toddler in the near future.. Something which I can use till he is 2-2.5 yrs. old. He is currently around 19lbs.

Of course, needless to say, it shouldn't cost me the world.. Do tell me your opinions, and the websites, if available..

TIA

Since you don't want a sling, I would recommend an Ergo--
http://www.ergobabycarrier.com/

Lots of places sell them, including some real life stores, so you may be able to try one on before buying.

Thanks..

No one else seems to have responded...

I'm open to a sling, but not sure what exactly to look for, also DS sweats a lot, so maybe he would sweat more in a swing..

Thanks for the advice, I did look at the website, and it seems good

An Ergo is definitely a great choice.

I carry my 8 month old ds in a mei tai on my back frequently. I also carried my dd on my back in a mei tai until she was over 3 and over 40lbs. I probably would have carried her in it longer, but ended up on bedrest while pg. I make all my own carriers so I don't have a brand to recommend. Checking out www.thebabywearer.com you could probably find a nice wahm made mei tai for a decent price. You can also find them at super high prices, but that doesn't sound like what you want.

Since you said you were open to a sling, but worried about him sweating, I wanted to recommend www.sleepingbaby.net.
