Any one have a maya wrap? I would love to get the measurements of one. I am hoping to make one and have no idea how long or how wide they are. Or if you don't have one, do you know of a website that would know?

Thanks!!

Maya wrap has instructions online, for personal use only, not reselling:

http://www.mayawrap.com/n_sewsling.php

An ideal ring sling is about 30" wide by 2.5 yards long. Thinner fabrics can be wider than 30". Try to find fabric that is already this narrow and you won't have to hem it! Hemming is the part I like doing the least.

make sure to use real slingrings, www.slingrings.com. don't use craft rings from the store, they will bend and slip through each other. you can also use steel rings made for horse use, but they are much heavier than slingrings

There are other types of shoulder styles than the maya wrap style. The original maya shoulder isn't as comfortable as some other styles for some people. (Maya now has a lightly padded version that I have heard great things about. )

Many people prefer the sbp shoulder:

or the up mama shoulder:

hope this helps! post pictures when you're done!

I don't know about the Maya wrap, but I make mine about 2.5 yards long (you can shorten it if your petite because I make mine for taller bigger women and then just cut them down for smaller women) and I generally use abou 30" wide. This just feels more comfortable to me.

"There are other types of shoulder styles than the maya wrap style."

AHH, you already answered. I pleat my shoulder and have never had a complaint about discomfort, I agree that the Maya's shoulder is not very comfortable, but it's easier to sew up. Pleating can be a bit of a pain, but I want my moms to be comfortable.
