Cycling Worse On Meds???

I don't know what's going on with you. I seem to be cycling alot worse than I ever did when I wasn't on meds. Yesterday and all day today, I was so hyper it was insane. I mean physically, my energy was still very low, but I was chatty cathy all day today and everything seemed just grand. Then, on the ride home from work, that huge wave of despair, hopelessness and utter depression overcame me. My pdoc had said that I'm in a "mised state", and that it's to be expected, but I've never cycled to these extremes quite like this ESPECIALLY not in just a matter of a few hours. I'm on 300 mgs of Trileptal.

Has anyone else experienced something similar when they started meds?? Thanks

In a phrase....I'm right there with you sister!

I'm cycling hour to hour since about Sunday.

I can definitely relate to how you're feeling...I've been feeling much the same way lately...although I haven't been diagnosed with bipolar and don't really understand all these mixed emotions I've been having.

In terms of medications, my therapist mentioned that maybe the Prozac I started over a month ago (I'm still on the lowest possible dose) is related to these symptoms...but I haven't heard of a mood stabilizer causing the symptoms. Maybe it will just take some time to really kick in, or maybe it's not the right medication for you...did you mention how long you've been taking it?

In any case, I sympathize with you...hopefully better, calmer days are ahead.
