I've just found ivillage and these message boards in particular and already I feel better.

I love to dance and although I haven't been dancing for a long time, I am determined to use it to combat my depression. What I would like to ask all you wonderful women is: what's your favorite music to dance around the house to? I am a child of sixties, love Motown etc., but I love all kinds of music and would love some suggestions. Seems depression has somewhat fried my brain when it comes to thinking of new ideas! Thanks so much for being here. I look forward to lots of chats in the future.

Welcome (((Olivia1775)))

The only music I can't really listen to is country. It immediately depresses me, not to mention that I don't like most of it!

I look forward to getting to know you.

Welcome Olivia

Like Pamela, I avoid country music and for the same reason...depressing. I was raised on country music, but it was not like todays' country.

I love bluegrass, blues and jazz..however, it depends on what I am doing, as to what music I listen to. We have DirecTV so I have a very nice selection. If I need to get moving...I turn on the "Dance" music. I also like it for exercising, because it has a constant beat, which helps me pace. However, it is not for relaxing...

Have fun on the board here, and once again...welcome.

Hi and welcome! ;-) I'm new to these boards too. That is wonderful that you have dance to help you combat depression! Powerlifting helps me combat my depression and my eating disorder as well. I can't dance so I don't dance around my house to ANY music. lol I dance like a drunk horse on 3 legs. lol I'm 25 years old (turning 26 in December) and I listen to all kinds of music, even music from the 50's!

Again welcome and I look forward to reading your posts! ;-)

Hi Olivia. I'm new here as well. I also like to dance to help pick me up and get myself motivated. I like to listen to anything that's R&B and some rap too. I love reggae music too. I also find myself dancing along with my kids to their favorite tunes. It's a great way for us to have fun together and get rid of some pent up energy. I hope all goes well for you. I'm sure we'll both find great support here.
