Sweetie,

I feel badly that you are stuck with these pigeon holing people.

here's my non-professional advice: if you are not benefitting from the help you are getting, look elsewhere. the alcoholic stuff sounds silly to me, honestly it sounds like they are not paying enough attention to you and grasping at one random thing and running with it. maybe there are issues surrounding this point, but it sounds like the therapy is running off into a tangent that is really unrelated or at least unhelpful. i went to tons of therapists before i found the one that eventually helped me more than i could have even hoped for. there were tons of therapists who would do something similar to what you are experiencing- try to act like they have found something when they hadn't. in the end, they need to let you talk. and if there is nowhere better to go, my best advice is to continue to go and take it with a grain of salt. try to make the best out of it- lead the conversation towards things that are more helpful for you to talk about. or talk about everything you can until you figure out what it is that you need to talk about. i hope some of this relates, i don't know the exact situation, so i am trying to do the best without knowing! good luck!

((Foggy))....I'm sorry to say, but THAT sounds really out there. I'm not buying it. So if you have a serial killer as a father, does that make you a serial killer too?

I also don't think that there is anything wrong with having a drink here and there. I do it, and quite frankly... I like it. I don't think that it makes me an alcoholic. I honestly think that you need to find a group that is more geared towards your needs and problems.

Hugs Ilka....let us know what's going on

((((((((Traci))))))), I am a recovering alcoholic and went through a treatment program at one of the top rehab centers in the country.

I have never heard anything like that before. My mom is a recovering alcoholic, and I barely drink.

I think you need to report this person. What they are telling you is complete bull.

I absolutley agree Pamela

Thats a crock. My mother and father were both alcoholics, and yeah, I like to have beer now and then.

Does this mean my 15 year old sister is an alcoholic?

Take my advice, find another counselor, and report this one... Sounds like they were drinking themselves!!

LOL

Hugs
