I have a new manager at my job. I am the assistant manager. I am not dealing with the transiton well. The new manager has irriitated me since day one. The way he questions me about how I run the office seems like he feels I am doing it wrong. He asked me if I feel like that and I told him that I do. He said he doesn't feel that I am doing things wrong but he didn't change the way questions.
I am being very defensive.
I have had two employees, including a new trainee, talk back to me or tell me I was being rude. No one I have ever worked for or with has ever said that about me before. I told my new manager about the incidents. He didn't help me one way or the other. Other employees I have talked to tell me I am not acting in a inappropriate way that should trigger the employees reactions.
I dwell on all the problems that I have. This is nothing new, I have done this for a long time, but everything now seems to be more upsetting to me. I can't relax my mind and thoughts.

Hi Dawn Welcome to the board!
Dealing with work is always stressful and new management to adjust to is doubly hard.
If you talked to your boss and he said he doesnt think you are doing anything wrong, then you need to relax. Questioning things may just be his style of management. Everyone handles their work responsibilites differently and that may be how he feels he covers himself with his bosses or just feels better knowing he asked.. If that makes sense
As far as the people under you.. Im sure if you are uptight over things it will show even if you dont mean it too. Besides the fact if it is a new trainee that person is probably nervous too and is not familiar with your style.. It all trickles down..
Most of all I would say, try to relax and just do your job.. If your boss questions you, just answer him and be proud that you can tell him things are going well.

I am on Paxil too. It seems to work very well for me.
I used to be an assistant mangager who basically did the managers job but didn't get paid her wage. It was very stressful because I wanted everyone to like me, but I also wanted things done right. I think it is very hard to balance that.
Starting the counseling is a great step.
Anyway, I just wanted to welcome you.
Take care
