Taking new drug and need some info

Hello there,

I have been treating my depression for about two years. I started taking Zoloft, but found that I suffered from negative side effects. My old doctor added Wellbutrin SR to counter the symptoms, but unfortunately it didn't work that well. I think that Zoloft was a great drug, despite its complications, but the side effects were too frustrating to deal with long term. I also tried taking Wellbutrin alone, but found that it didn't work for treating my depression.

Recently, I started working with a new doctor who has put me on a combo of Lexapro and Wellbutrin. I don't know much about Lexapro and I was wondering if anybody on this board has experience with this drug or more specifically, the combo I am taking.

Thanks,

Sully

I took lexapro but it made me too sleepy I was falling alsep at work but that was just me I guess my pdoc said that it was really odd that I was affected by it that way I know alot of people take lexapro and think it is great the side effects are so low basically non existant and I know for alot of people it works great but I needed more of a stabilizer the anti depressants didnt work for me.

I think that you will like Lexapro it lifted my depression within the first 2 weeks not totally lifted it but I could feel a difference in the way I felt good luck hun.

HI Sullylark.

I take 150 mg of Wellbutrin every day, and was taking 10 mg of Lexapro too, but stopped with that (tapered it down on my own) about three months ago. I will probably have to go back on it soon, since I've been having a bad few weeks, with lots of jittery feelings.

I liked the combination and the Wellbutrin helped with the sexual side effects of Lexapro, but not entirely. I wish I could find something that would erase the sex side effects of Lexapro altogether.

I've been on Lexapro for approx 8 months. Life has never been better. Before I started Lexapro, I would wake every nite/am @ 2:17am and couldn't stop my brain from thinking.I used to stress about everything and everyone. Now I stopped worrying about what I can't change and change what I can. i'm learning that I can't please everyone and shouldn't be made to feel that I have to. It has upset some people in my life because I don't take their "stuff" anymore. I dont get sleepy during the day. And the only noticable side effect I've had is now I can't really drink alcohol.( I know it's a depressant and I'm not supposed to drink but I do have an occasional drink)It doesn't make me sick ,it just doesn't take as much to make me feel "tipsy".I've never taken anything b4 this but just recently started hearing about Welbutrin, but I don't think I'll be changing from Lexapro anytime soon. Good Luck with the Lexapro.

lexapro is great, i wa son it for 6 months, it helped with my nmood swings, and depression, instead of yelling I would laugh, and such. I am off of lexapro because of the sexual side effects, it was so bad i didn't even want sex at all. My doctor started me on wellbutrin, 2 and half weeks ago, and already i notice a change in my sexual area. I hope it helps with my depression because since I got off, ive been crying again, and getting mad over trivial things. I just started taking 300mg today so hopefully the higher dose will help. I know this sounds stupid but with wellbutrin, my doctor told me I could also lose an enormous amount of weight. is this true? have any of you lost alot of weight with wellbutrin? With Lexapro I lost 7lbs, and stayed that way until I got off, but now my eating habitsa have changed again, i am eating less, and not very hungry anymore. Back to Lexapro I think it did well with just the depression, you'll find as you go along it will help out alot. Hope this helps!
