Venting of more then one kind...........

Codes, codes, codes, codes, codes, codes, codes, I think that if I hear the word codes one more time, I am going to SCREAM.

We been working on getting our window order in for the last five days now and I am sick of it!!!!

Some years ago, the common thought was that if we sealed up our home that they would be more energy efficient. Bahumbug! It only created a toxic problem. With sealing up of our homes, there was no way for the chemicals that are in our homes and from chemicals used during construction to vent. Therefore, we ended up with carbon monoxide poisoning along with lots of others. So now, the codes read that you must have inlet ports on your windows. The inlet ports are there so that the gases and other things may escape, along with small amounts of your heat! What a joke! We are being force to have our entire windows made with in let ports, these can cost from $28.00 too as high as $84.00 per window. We have 18 windows to make so we are looking at about a thousand dollars worth of in let ports GRRRRRRR.

Next, the codes force us to make our window be the lowest rated of low-E as possible. Low-E means that a filter is place between the two panes of glass to less the harsh beams of the sun and me with SADs. I had my husband make the window bigger and he added the dormer all so that I could get as much sun light in the house as I could GRRRRRRR.

Last but not least, because of the amount of insulation needed to meet code you have to use 2x6 construction instead of 2x4. This makes the finial bottom line very expensive. The amount of insulation that the county is requiring is not necessary but if we want to meet code, we have to follow all the rules. I also found out that although you follow all of the codes you are subject to someone’s interpretation of said codes. Okay, I call uncle!!! Now you can see why my husband and I are so stressed, You never know if you are spending the money in the right direction. Because someone may have his own interpretation of said code and you may have to spent more money to correct it because someone is having a bad day and decided to take it out on you GRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Okay, I apologize if I offended anyone; I just needed to get this off my chest. I am afraid that if I really let go I would scare the crude out of the little one. I am so frustrated and tried of this and we are not even through yet!

Well, thanks for listening. Lots of Cyber hugs to all.

Warm Regards,

RainydaysArgon

P.S. My apologize to all I have not had the time to post on some of your post like I would like. There have been so many post that I wanted to post some encouragement to but just could not, so I send you all the biggest Cyber hugs that I can muster.
