Hello everyone,
My name is mary, and u can call me "libby", i am new to this board, as i have
been searching for a place to talk and exhale, and relax possibly. I just recently
turned 54, i recently got married to a wonderful man last july,(who is 8 years younger
than i), i have 4 children, 19, 22, 24, 33 and two step-children, 9 and 13. I work
full time and do the work of two people., and it is physically taking its toll on me.
I believe i am in pre-menopause as my periods have been on time until nov. of last
year was my last one. Now i am getting hot flashes and all that wonderful stuff one
gets. I was diagnosed with anxiety/depression disorder 5 years ago, doc put me on
xanex 0.25 2x daily if needed, and i was on effexor-xl 150mgs a day for a few years,
i finally was able to get off it, and survived a year., until recwently when i started
with small anxiety, anxious, crying, stressed, feelings and this time i am on paxil-cr
37.5 mgs daily, and still on xanex. they seem to be working well, the paxil, the side
effects arent too bad and do adjust over time. i hope to get off this within or by
a year. my husband is very understanding where i am concerned and my moods, kind of
confusing when one is going thru meno-pause and struggle with anxiety, depression, etc.
at the same time. I feel overwhelmed at times, and want to do sooo much and cant
concentrate enough to complete all of it, i do 'to do lists' and try to get things
done that way, i forget alot, feel kinda lost at times, but my tone and level of
depression seems good on the paxil and i feel balanced. Trying to understand menoapause
and dealing with my anxiety has been hard but i am doing better it seems, the doc also
told me depression/anxiety is generic?? as both of my children have it, and have or is
on paxil as well, so it hereitery?? Just wanted to introduce myself and hope to meet
alot of supportive women here, life is hard at times, but i always try to think positive
and know things will get better.
thanks for listening,

I am on Paxil as well although I am thinking of switching as it seems to be losing it's effect.
Depression is hereditary, unfortunatley. My mom and sister both deal with depression as well.
Anyway, sorry this is so short. I have to get back to work.
