Maya Angelou Quotes:

"I can be changed by what happens to me. I refuse to be reduced by it."

"History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, however, if faced with courage, need not be lived again."

DON'T QUIT

by Unknown Poet

When things go wrong as they sometimes will

When the road you're trudging seems all uphill

When the funds are low, and the debts are high

And you want to smile, but have to sigh

When care is pressing you down a bit

Rest if you must, but do not quit.

Success is failure turned inside out

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt

And you can never tell how close you are

It may be near when it seems so far

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit

It's when things go wrong that you must not quit.

- Unknown

"When you have found your own room, be kind to those who have chosen different doors and to those who are still in the hall"

-C.S. Lewis

Is the lack of sunshine in the wintertime causing/aggravating some more blues for everyone? When I lived on the East Coast, I had the worse Seasonal Affective Disorder. In the west, I feel like I get a lot more sunshine but it's hard for me in winters in general. I think that I have a lot weird ways to combatting depression. I've tried St. John's Wort but don't use it regularly. Brewer's Yeast seems to give me a real life in the mornings with my cereal! It has a bunch of amino acids in it that are really remarkable for my brain, muscles and energy level. Of course, it's important to not use it if you have bipolar, prone to kidney stones or are epileptic, because those same amino acids can cause problems in high doses. The Twinlabs debittered brewer's yeast seems to work best for me.

The worse thing for me is how depression is vicious circle. I don't feel like working out and getting OUT OF THE HOUSE more and that aggravates the depression even more!

Plus I get so sensitive to what others think about me, it's terrible.

In my family, depression is a sign of mental weakness and you're not supposed to talk about it. Isn't that terrible? And if we, as women, have had babies, we're in need of talking/venting even more than anything else! I was so happy to hear Tipper Gore mention her experience with depression and really rooting for more awareness and funding for mental health issues. That woman has the sunniest smile, and it was so inspiring to see that she has had to really pick herself up out of the dumps during bad times. It makes me feel like there is hope for me. I've gone through ups and downs. I've been at very low points in my life.

I just wanted to share that with everyone, so you would know that I understand how hard it is.
