First, I probably should mention there is triggers in this.

Hi, I'm 24 and live in Nebraska. I think I have depression. I haven't been diagnosed by a dr. I'm always tired it doesn't matter who much I sleep (12 hr. a day) I'm tired. I cry at some of the stupidest stuff.

Last May, I came really close to slicing my wrist, because I want to see my grandpa. My grandpa commited suicide on February 6, 1991. I heard the gun shot. I was at school. Their house was only 6 blocks away from school. I thought I dealt with all that stuff, but I think I just stuffed it down. Then when I had some REALLY high stress thing go on last year, it all came back. Now I'm having some financial problems.

I'm going to the dr on Monday for a physical and I'm having some minor health problems. I guess I'm really confused. What should I ask my dr? What should I except from my dr? I really just want some info. some I'm not walking in their totally blind. Today is good day.

Jenny

Just so you all know my spelling is really bad.

(((Jenny)))

Welcome to the board sweetie.

I think it's great that you are going to your doctor to get help. I would just tell him of all the symptoms of depression that you have. There is a quiz on the home page of the depression board. I think you could print that and take it. Just tell the doctor how you are feeling. I think the suicide of your grandpa is a difficult issue that has to be dealt with. Yesterday was four years since my best male childhood friend shot himself. And I am still a basketcase. Suicide is a hard thing to deal with.

Anyway, I am sure the other ladies will have some great advice for you.

Take care

Pamela

Thanks, Pamela. I took the test, but I never printed it out. I'll go to the tomorrow. I have a lot of why question that only my grandpa can answer. I talk to him; which helps. I wish he could talk back.

Thanks, Caly. I have this list of thing to mention to her (dr). I'll add what you said to the list. If you go on meds, do you have to be on them the rest of your life? I know with the cholesterol meds they are talk about putting me on it would be for the rest of life. That could be 40+ yrs.

Jenny,

Some of us have taken meds for most of our lives and then others have gone off after a year or two.

You poor thing! That is horrible to deal with! You are doing the first good thing and that is coming here and seeing your doctor. I hope that you can tell him what you are going through. Basically, I think that you should tell him that you have some issues in your life that are difficult ot handle, and maybe he can give you the names of some therapists to talk to. THat would be a good place to start!

Hope I helped some! Love and hugs,
