What the hell!? I can't take this anymore. I am being evicted for "irreconsible differences." Why!? I know I was leaving anyway, but legally, can I get evicted for not getting along with the roommate that started the fight in the first place!? GOD THIS SUCKS! What am I gonna do!?!?!?

Trixie,

You should call a free legal clinic to find out what your rights are in this case. Call any law school in your area and they should be able to tell you where low income people can call to get free legal advice.

I'm sorry happened. Your rights probably depend on whose name is on the lease. If both of your names are on the lease, you probably have more rights than if just the other person's name is on it. The legal place can guide you on what to do next.

Good Luck! You are in my prayers.

All My Best,

MariaC

Hi Trixie,

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate eviction. That really does suck especially if you haven't done anything wrong. I agree with Maria about finding out what your rights are. I don't know anything about your situation so I can't really suggest anything other than finding out what the laws are in your state.

I know when I left an ex and both of our names were on the lease I left and he was able to stay as long as my name was taking off the lease and the lease was satisfied.

I hope your situation improves and your day brightens.

Take Care and good luck.

Irene

you don't have a lease so they really can't evict you. don't let this get to you. you were leaving anyway. this way they think it was their idea so they can't give you grief about it. everything will work out sweetie.

Sending you big huge hugs, I hope that things start to look up for you real soon.

I agree with MariaC find out what your legal rights are, plus you were planning on leaving anyways, these people you live with sound like horrible people very mean spirited and you are better off without them anyways.

Keeping you in my thoughts.

Oh, hon..I'm sooo sorry...I wish I lived in Chicago..you'd be welcome anytime...

And in my experience, if your name isn't on the lease, they can change the locks and ask you to leave if they want. At least, when my best friend was married before and decided to divorce him, we had him kicked out and changed the locks, because my name and her name was on the lease, and not his...So I'm not sure there's anything you can do....When will things get better for my friend Erin? I'm due for some good luck, but I'd gladly pass it on to you...

Lots of love..

who evicted you? the landlord? your roomate? the guy who lives upstairs from me was being so loud and not stopping and after months and months of complaints and a petition, they gave him multiple notices and then a 10 day eviction thing- he didn't get evicted in the end and even signed a new lease!!! they told me it is a long, expensive process to evict someone, and usually it is just an intimidation thing. i would tell you as a friend to take your sweet time moving out- don't be too generous about paying for things while you are getting ready to go either (probably that is rude, but whatever). take your time though, and don't worry about the eviction. roomates are pains, i told you i have had such bad times with roomates i just live alone now! thanks for all of the help you have been giving me. it means alot and has REALLY helped- just knowing i have someone who cares enough to keep up with me and be there for me means the world to me right now. and i am definitely feeling happier :) so, thanks!!!
