I need help with Celexa withdrawals
| Tue, 02-24-2004 - 2:37am |
Good evening everyone. I'm new to this chat room (new to chat in general). Anyway, I've recently quit taking Celexa (with Dr. advice), and am having a tough time with the side affects. I've been experiencing waves of dizziness (think ocean waves that just keep rolling and rolling), along with severe feelings of anger and rage. Oh, and last but not least, "shocks", which is a term I just learned tonight.
Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with these side affects? I absolutely do not want to go back on the Celexa, and my doctor agrees with me that overall I do not need to be on this drug long term and that it should be okay for me to quit.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Kate

Did your Doctor just have you quit taking the celexa, and how much were you taking?
Hi Kate!
Just wanted to welcome you to the board, since my Dear Co-CL has already said Exactly what I was going to! hehe *winks at Trac
Glad you found us and hope you will stay and become part of the family!

Thanks to both of you that responded. My doctor had me on 20mg for the last 6 months (10 before that). He had me go back down to 10 for several weeks, then down to 5 for another couple weeks. At this point he advised me to quit taking it and "see how I did". I was warned by my doc that I may experience these symptoms, but he didn't give me any ideas how to handle it. So, now I'm feeling crappy most of the time (dizziness, shocks, sometimes bad-bad mood) and I don't know what I'm in store for.
I'm determined to get off the antidepressants. I don't like all the side-effects that I've experienced. The worst being constant profuse sweating, it is rare that I ever feel cold (or even cool) temparature-wise. And I've also put on a lot of weight. I realize that this last part is mostly a vanity issue (I am not obese), however, I don't think it's doing anything to help my self image.
Thanks,
Kate
Kate since you are that far down on dosage, you might want to talk to your DR about effexor XR or wellbutrin or even Lexapro.
