Zoloft weaning for ttc

Hi there,

Caly, I got your "Hug" on the CL board this morning, and thought I'd pay a visit to your board. :) I could use some words of wisdom and maybe some of you ladies will have ideas.

I have been on Zoloft for 5 years. Initially, I was up to 100 mg, but after a year, I was brought down to 50 mg and stayed there with balance and mostly good days. My husband and I are presently ttc. After a miscarriage last year (and with the limited research on Zoloft and pg), I would really like to get off of it. The last two weeks I have been on 25 mg, and wow, has it been rough. I had forgotten how my whole perspective changes during a true episode of depression... you know when it hits you like a rock?

Anyway, I'm doing better today. I'll be on the lower dosages for some time, of course, before eliminating the drug. My doctor tentatively is allowing the weaning off the drug, but like all psychiatrists I've met, he thinks drugs are the answer to everything. (Not that I'm knocking Zoloft -- it's an amazing drug -- but I know there are other therapies out there.)

So hence my questions. Has anyone here been through the process of trying to get off Zoloft? Any words of wisdom or alternative therapies you'd recommend? Also, I am starting an herbal supplement in the mornings of DLPA, B-6 and C. Anyone else tried this?

Ok, thanks for reading this book. Best to you all!

Thank you so much, ladies! That give me a lot to think about... it's good to know that someone else has been through this process and survived. :) And I do think I need to see a therapist for counseling rather than just med checks with a psychiatrist. It's been a while, and it's always a good idea to check in with counselor, because then I can check in with myself.

Thanks again. Suz

P.S. So sorry about the "cl" post below. I need to remember to change my sign-in when I visit other boards.
