Just when I thought it was safe to go into the bathroom.

And after all the frustrations that I have had in the past with this bathroom. (see post: aarrggg…..Need to Vent …….. ) Link http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-bhdepression/message.asp?webtag=iv-bhdepression&msg=41962.1

Well last night after I had finished the dishes (Yes I am back to doing them by hand) I notices that the water in the sink was having trouble draining and I recalled that the shower too seems to draining a little slow lately. The drainage problem seems to recur every couple of months, which seems to be get under my skin lately. Well last night after the dishes were finished I went into the bathroom to wash my hands and when I turned around some movement in the shower caught my eye. On closer inspection, I discovered some really black dirty water bubbling up out of the shower drain. It reminded me of the scene from “The Beverly Hillbillies.” You know the scene where the oil is bubbling up out of the ground Black crude, Texas Tea. Well if only it was crude oil but alas it was only dirty water. I called my husband into look and he in turn call his father (the landlord) to have a look. It was determined that it was not sewage water but the possibility of a pipe had rotted through and was allowing dirt in.

Okay, “Calgon Take Me Away.”

My husband left this morning feeling bad that I will have to spend the day with a dirty bathroom and no way to wash dishes for the day. I feel bad that he feels bad. It has been a hard week, weekend and a hard start to a new week. I try not to be irritated by the things that go on here but I can only take so much. I lived with a leaky faucet for two months before it got fix recently. One of the elements on the stove and the element in the oven both stopped working. My father-in-law did fix them but before it got fix, it took me a few weeks to figure out why it would take two hours to cook a chicken in the oven. I hate asking anyone for help because there is some many other things that have to be attended to and I hate bugging or begging. Therefore, I just learn to live with it. We better not go there, I think that I will just end this post now before I start to dwell too much on the negative on this situation. I am finding it a little hard to find the humor right now but I will have to work on this.

Lots of Cyber hugs to you all,

Warm Regards,

RainydaysArgon

Water problems seem to plague me at my house too, I know how aggravating it can be. If you are handy, you can try a site called ACMEHowto.com. I have been able to repair my water heater and my washing machine with help from those. If all else fails, just start taking things apart, when they ask you why, just say, well I couldnt wait any longer to get it fixed ! Maybe that will help them get the lead out when you need something done, LOL. Best wishes.

WOW! That's ALOT to deal with but it sounds as though you are holding on to some sense of humor about it. Hopefully your living situation will improve soon and someday you and your family will have great laughs over all the chaos from this home. We've lived in our current home for almost 2 years and our first Christmas here we had a flood in our basement. Dh and I kept bailing water but the more we bailed the more water came in. We are extremely lucky because DH's family is in the Plumbing and heating business. We had a guy from the company come over to help us Christmas morning. I kept saying how sorry I was for him having to come over on Christmas. He was all smiles and said that he was Jewish and his inlaws who are not Jewish but are very annoying and so it was good to get away from them for a while. He had such a great sense of humor over it. We all have our war stories with our homes. Hopefully you will have yours taken care of soon. Good luck~Jenn

Thank you, for the hugs and well wishing it seems at times that I just get so irritated at the situation. I know that living here is only temporary but it will be five years in July and it is a long time to live without privacy. Please do not get me wrong my in-laws are great but the whole situation is hard on all of us.

Trac, Old houses have their charm and I would love to own one but I do not know if I could tolerate all the upkeep and the restoration. I could not imagine having to going down the street just to use the bathroom. Thank goodness, it was only for a week.

Worn, Thank you for the information I will be look into that site.

Jenn, On Christmas??? What a mess. What luck finding a Jewish plumber. I bet he took his time. hehe

Just to let you know the problem is fixed but it took four adults two hours to fix it.

Thank you again for the support, I need it.

Warm Regards,
