7th grade problems

Anyway----this year has been very tough. Lots of problems in all three classes. I thought I was the only one having problems with discipline until one day when I got off the phone with a parent and started crying in front of another teacher. She started telling me her horror stories and then others added thier's. Unfortunately we have not been getting a lot of support from administration--ie---the principal.
Recently we were able to convince her to let a psychologist come in and present a program to the 7th grade on how to deal with peer pressure, problems at home, etc.....
Well, in one of the groups a boy spit in a girl's hair and apparently that was all that was needed to get the kids to open up. They started talking about how frustrating it was to have privieges taken away all the time because of the kids who cause the problems. They also told of verbal abuse ---some of it sexual that had been going on.
So (sorry this is so long) tomorrow the psychologist is coming in and meeting with the entire 7th grade (all 82 so as not to point anyone out). The 7th and 8th graders teachers will be there along with myself and the PE teacher. We were told it might last two hours and then there will be other 'meetings' for the next two weeks.
I'm not sure what will come of all this----the psychologist feels there are quite a few kids who have psychological problems. I believe she's right.
So, please keep all of us at my school in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow.

I will definitely keep all of you in my prayers for the next few weeks.
Debbie,
I will most definatly keep you in my thoughts for the next few weeks, I do hope that having the pdoc come ion will help some if not all of the children I remember how hrd it was to be that age and the problems that go along with it.
I am sure that you are happy knowing that you are not alone in this and that the other teachers know how you feel and what you are going through.
I hope that in the end this all works out for the better and I hope that it makes you feel better also.
Erin
The kids and staff will definetely be in prayers. I think that it is a great idea that a psycologist is coming in to talk to the kids as a group. Is there any thought that the psycologist might pull kids out later on to talk to them one and one and see what is going on??? I worked in an elementary school two years ago as the health tech. I was the nurse while the nurse was gone. We had a similar issue with out 5th graders. And we also had a problem with the principle not wanting to do anything, so we finally went about her head and the superintendant took care of the issue!!! Again, all of you will be in my prayers!!!
God Bless Ya Sister
