One Thoughtful Thief (Pos. Trigger)

I do not know if I can hold on much longer! Trying to be strong has taken so much out of me. I have fought my emotions all weekend and now I can not hold on to them any longer. The trials and tribulations of building this house are driving me to tears. I am trying to be good, I am trying very hard for the sake of my husband and for the little ones but I do not know if I can handle this much more. Seeing the sad look in my husband's eyes, hearing him gag every morning, seeing the weight loss and watching him struggle against some really difficult odds is just to hard for me to handle today. I am trying not to let the little ones see me crying but I can not hold it in any longer.

Last year on the Saturday before Easter we received a telephone call. It was from the neighbor next to our property. He called to let us know that our pumphouse had been broken into. We had made the decision to stay home that weekend to go to church and to celebrate Easter with my husband's family. It was the first weekend that we had taken off in a long time and we felt that we needed to stay home just this once. Things were stolen such as my husbands chain saw, builders level, gas can, and others and had to be replaced, the door jam, doorknobs and hasp for the padlock had to be replace as well. The feeling of being violated and that your personal space had been invaded was overwhelming.

Well, this year we made the decision to have Easter at the property, as we had to prepare for the siding crew that is starting to side the house today.

Last Wednesday my father-in-law and I spent three and half-hours out at the property waiting for the electrical inspector (we did not pass; we have some corrections to make). During that time we discovered that one of the bulbs of the motion detector light that is attached to the pumphouse was laying on the ground. My father-in-law thought that maybe the glue from the socket of the light gave out because it was only the bulb that was laying on the ground and not the bulb and socket.

Well, when we arrived Friday evening and started to set up my husband discovered that someone had tried to brake into the pumphouse. This time the motion detector light was damaged beyond repair and the hasp for the padlock was broke too. The door jam, door seal, doorknob, and door received heavy damaged also. We called the police and filed a report on the damage but the thief was unable to get in and steal anything. Not that we keep anything in the pumphouse any more. My husband had reinforced the door and the door jam with a ¾ inch steel plate, which made it impossible for a thief to get in. The steel plate did nothing to prevent the damage that the door, door jam and weather stripe received when a thief tried to brake in.

My husband made the discovery that the thief had gotten into the house only the next morning. We had made a quick check around the house while the policeman was there but we had not gone inside the house until the next morning. This was when my husband discovered that a light fixture inside the house that is very close to the opening in the ceiling of the porch was damaged and this is how he got in. We have to leave the ceiling open until the framing inspection and that inspection is several weeks away. The feeling of being violated returned as I traveled thought the house. Cigarette butts were found on the porch and inside the house and I dislike cigarettes. Sorry all you smoker out there, I do not mean to offend. But, (no pun intended) I have a little one with really bad allergies and smoke is one of them and to find that someone who was uninvited into my home and they smoked in it makes me want to puck. I know that my husband was upset by the violation as well as I and I could tell by the slump in his shoulders that the situation had really gotten to him too. WHY do people think that it is necessary to invade people’s personal space? There is nothing but boards and wiring in the place and any idiot can see that by looking in the windows. We make sure that all sub-contractors take care of there own tools and equipment. Nothing of value is left on the premises. WHY do people think they have the right to destroy other people property?????? But Bless that thief’s little pea picken heart he did made sure that he closed the door behind himself and that it was locked too!!!!!

I think I had better stop this post here and now before I really go off on a rant and call the person or persons some really nasty names. I most get pass this and move on and I trust that some day I my gain the understanding of why some people believe that they have the right to invade and destroy something that belongs to another.

I do wish to extend my apologies to everyone that I have not been around. However the house building project has taken a great deal of my time the last week or so. I do think of everyone and I send you all hugs even thought I have not able to post.

Warm Regards,
