Well I really don't even know where to begin..I got diagnosed about 2 months ago with depression..I honestly had no clue what was going on with me I just knew that something wasn't right..I was screaming and yelling the I was fine then I'd break down crying and have absolutely no energy at all..didn't want to do anything eat anything..just well..just being..couldn't sleep..sweating like crazy at night.I could go on..I finally relized that something just wasn't right. I called my MD and she got me in same day..surprisingly enough..I literally broke down in her office crying that I didn't know what the heck was wrong with me..I was there for a few hours..she didn't have that many patients that day. She finally told me that I had all the signs and symptoms of depression and she was concerned. She started me on medications which have helped some..but I still feel sometimes like I'm spirlling downwards..I don't really have anyone to talk to about it. Anyways I would love to meet and get some advice and suggestions on how to deal with the depression and the way people have reacted to my diagnosis. Thanks~~Liv

Welcome to the board Liv!!!!
We are glad you found us.
I just got to this board myself, but I had to respond to your post.
I've had depression more years than I care to think about.
WELCOME!!!!!!!!
I am glad you have taken the first step in dealing with how you feel. Sometimes I think that is the hardest part, realizing that you don't have to feel badly and asking for help. I am glad your meds are helping some. If you don't think they are working well enough, maybe you should ask your dr if you should change your dose. Sometimes that can make a big difference.
Also, I have found for me that it is really important to have a good support base, and this is a great start for that. The ladies here are so wonderful. We are all willing to listen whenever you need to vent, cry, scream, or anything. That is what this board is for. A safe place to let it all hang out.
You might want to consider finding a cousellor, too. It has really helped some of us to talk to someone who can help us figure out why we feel the way we do and make changes in our lives to make things better. If you aren't comfortable with that, it is not necessary, but you might want to think about it.
Again, welcome to the board, and I hope you let us know how things go for you in the future.
