depression after breast cancer

I am two years post breast CA...I fought with everything I had to get rid of the disease-had surgery, chemo and radiation. Other than really bad fatigue I was doing fine. Over the last couple of months I have become depressed and 2 1/2 weeks ago I was suicidal. I was hospitalized for a couple of days and now am on 3 meds. but they have not "kicked in" yet. The days are so long and I feel so hopeless and unhappy when I should be celebrating my good physical health. I have never been on a message board before but I hope someone out there has had this experience and help me to get thru these hard days. I feel so guilty-I have my health and am so lucky in that respect. Thanks for any help you might give me.

I can imagine the emotional rollercoaster you have been thru battling cancer the last few years so I want to start off with a big HUG!

I have not had experience with battling this type of illness but im sure others have..

Deb, Just take it one day at a time, Your body, mind, and soul have been through a lot and it takes time to heal. Sounds to me like you've made good progress today. Any day I get out of bed and get dressed is a good day! Take care of yourself, Brenda

Thanks for all your support and help. I saw my dr. Wed. and he added a new drug and increased the dosage of another. I will see him and my therapist on Wed. again. Today I feel a bit 'lighter' and not so bogged down. Things are looking up! Again thanks for your responses.
