In reading your post Im getting the feeling that deep down you really want the FLA job and though I only know you from the past year, I really feel that of the 2 of them that is the better job for you... but that is only my personal opinion..
As far as Salary goes it sounds like they are trying to give you the best they can... If there is room for growth and pay raises there in the long run it may work out ok..
I wish I knew more about the job and the situation you are facing but I haven't been up to date in awhile. If you would like since I live in Florida I can get some info together for you and give you some first hand Floridian experience. Where abouts in Floirda are you considering? I live in Port. St. Lucie now but was in Palm Beach County for over 14 years.
If you have any questions I can help you with I would be glad to answer the mfor you. In the meantime I'llsend you lots of ***~~*(((HUGS)))*~~*** and wishes for a clear decision to drop in your lap. Your smart and sensible sweetie. You will make the right desicion for yourself and make the best of it.
I hope it's ok for me to put my two cents in, being as I've just met you. I agree with what someone said about seeing if they could improve the offer in the future. Ask where they see you in 5 years... They always ask where we want to be don't they? What are our goals? Well what is their goal for you??? Also, if they won't increase the pay right now, see about vacation time. I don't know what they are offering you, but if it's only the standard 2 weeks, ask for 4 and see what they say. Maybe they'll agree or maybe you can get 3 weeks out of them. Sometimes the non-monitary perks are worth the move. Ask for relocation services, moving cost, etc. A former co-worker of mine just took an offer in Boston (I work in New Jersey). They are paying for her to stay in an apartment for 2-3 months and then helping with buying a home, closing costs, etc. Instead of renting an apartment, maybe they can help you buy a townhome or condo. Then you own something! SOOOOO much better for you than renting!
Also I don't know, but what is the standard of living difference? Is it cheaper to live down there?
Bottom line, it sounds like a good deal, just think about other options besides just a pay increase... They may be willing to compromise!
This sounds kind of strange, but maybe you can use the salary issue to decide where you should be. You already know how much you feel you are worth, because you have tried to negotiate. Maybe if you DID say "hey, this is how much I need" you could see which place wants you more. It also might be an indicator of how willing they are to cater to their employees. You know, how much they believe the idea that a happy worker is a productive worker. I don't know if that will help, esp. since you are so unnerved by the idea of being that forceful about it. but I know that you will make the choice best for you in the end.
By the way, I am kicking the snot out of your gremlin and telling him to quit picking on you. Violence is never a good solution, but I think I can make an exception for that evil gremlin.
Hey Sweetie!
Im here for you if you want to talk!
