Caly,

I'm glad you don't want to move before Jordan graduates from high school or college because he has been though a lot this year with you and your husband getting a divorce you discover you are a lesbian now.

Same with getting out of the NYC area, I love it, but hate it after Martin Luther King, Jr Day because of the snow.

My name is Simone & I was born & bred in Cape Town, South Africa. My husband & I & 2 of our 4 kidz moved to Mauritius 11months ago.Where's Mru you ask???It's a gorgeous island in the Indian Ocean-if you blink you'll miss it on the map-lol.......We have a population of 1,2million gorgeous, friendly eclectic mixture of people.I'd be lying if I estimated the size of the island but it's about an hours drive each direction to reach the coast.....

Beacuse the island is a popular tourist destination-especially for honeymooners-there is always an influx of different cultures......there is quite a few denominations/races/cultures on the island-french,creole,hindu,moslem & westerners. The main attraction is definitelty the gorgeous beaches with clear blue waters all along the coast...the hotels are amazing & top notch:).......

If you love ur food you will not be dissapointed at all......walking down the mainstreet is a pleasant experience-the divine smell of spicy curry wafts through the air-you just have to stop & taste the local delicacies......if you love curries, samoosas & naan bread you are in for a treat & it's so dirtcheap.

Shopping is great too-the big fancy shops will set you back a few bucks but the open markets are fabulous.I venture out there every Thursday & always find a hidden treasure for very little money. My latest find was two African masks & some snazzy wicker bags-one in every colour.........

Mauritius is amazing & I would definitely recommend a visit & if ur stuck for a place to stay......well!!!

Thank you so much for sharing that info with us...God I always wanted to live in paradise and you get to actually do it I think that it is awesome that you have such diversity where you live not too often you get to be around so many different coltures and religions you sound like you really are happy with your life and that is awesome...

It sounds like a dream there I did look it up on the internet and it looks just as beautiful as you described it..

simone- i agree with erin! you are so lucky to live in paradise! i have met many people from south africa- my tennis coach in high school was the davis cup coach for south africa- so everyone i have met has been a tennis player (the best in the country, though) :)

i was born and raised in middle illinois- and now i live downtown chicago. the best thing about it is my rooftop- there is a perfect view of the skyline and lots of lawn chairs to sit and soak up the sun/air.
